The Return North
The Return North for Yellowknifers (and future morel pickers).
This weaving is set within a vintage ornate frame, measuring 10 inches wide by 12.5 inches tall. It is made with hand-dyed/hand-spun art yarn, Egyptian cotton fibres, merino wool roving, pure wool cotton, and other bougie art yarns. It also features dried flora, glass mushroom beads, and mother of pearl beads.
It is not lost on me that not everyone has been able to return home yet, namely the smaller communities and the more vulnerable population of YK. There are also some who will never return. My heart goes out to all right now. We need to do better to ensure we are all equally taken care of.
